Britpave developed and tested two concrete barriers for two distinct applications: the Britpave Concrete Highway Barrier (CSB) for vehicle restraint on highways, and the Britpave Security Barrier (BsecB) for perimeter protection. These two product families are now managed and brought to market by the subsidiary company, Britpave Barrier Systems, Ltd.

Britpave Highway Barrier (CSB)

Britpave CSB is a CE marked, in-situ, vehicle restraint system designed to contain vehicles, save lives and reduce congestion, with the added benefit of being virtually maintenance-free for 50 years. The CSB is designed, tested and installed in compliance with EN1317-5 providing H2 and N2 containment levels and an ASI B Impact Severity Level. CSB has the ability to contain errant cars, light vans and trucks up to 13 tonnes, including most buses and coaches. The BBS solution includes several new barrier profiles such as variable, wide, trough wide, as well as transitions to other barrier systems and structures, signs, street lighting fixings, gates for emergency crossing points and expansion joints. In December 2010, Britpave became the first company to successfully affix a CE mark to an in-situ product. This fully CE marked barrier system is supplied through a network of approved Licensed Installation companies.

BsecB – The ultimate perimeter security solution

Today’s most significant threat derives from international terrorism aiming to organise ‘high impact’ attacks that combine mass casualties with substantial disruption to key services such as energy, transport and communications. Commercial, public or private organisations need to be prepared and protect sensitive buildings and infrastructure. Protecting critical assets starts at the perimeter. The aim is to keep threats away from sensitive or high-security environments by strengthening site perimeters to prevent unauthorised access, which is why BBS has developed the BsecB perimeter security protection system, the ultimate line of defence against criminal or terrorist threat. BsecB is a proven system that has undergone extensive testing. It can be teamed with other approved products, including security gates, fencing and intruder monitoring systems, to provide an all-encompassing solution. Britpave first launched the system in 2009 and since that period BsecB installations have been carried out to protect sensitive buildings and infrastructure such as airports, power stations and cash handling facilities throughout the UK.
